Brief History :
A year and a half after Elvis Presley's death, RCA, under reissue producer Joan Deary, began to try to bring coherence to its posthumous releases by launching a Memories of Elvis series of releases. The idea, as a sleeve note signed by "Elvis' Father, The Colonel and RCA Records" put it, was to present "the pure Elvis": i.e., Presley recordings with the overdubbing that had become standard in his later years stripped off, leaving basic tracks consisting of Presley's voice and a few instruments.
